Looks like the lane should continue in front of the curb cuts and perhaps be painted green to alert drivers to the potential conflict.

Judging from the Street view picture, it looks like they could change the bike lane line to dashed for the last 15 or so feet before the intersection. That visual would help cue drivers to merge into...

Here's another entitled driver, commenting in Bethesda Now this morning: Pedestrians are getting hit because of the ridiculous law that cars have to stop at crosswalks. This has made pedestrians think...

I don't really think there is an excuse. Bad drivers are bad drivers. This is just as unacceptable as cutting another car off in the right hand lane. People do it to buses too, I don't know how they...

It might be appropriate to call the police and press assault charges. What she did is about the same as taking a swing at your head with a baseball bat and then protesting, "I told him I was going to...

Pretty endemic of the "me first" attitude all across modes. Problem is in the scale. If a ped does it, they're unlikely to injure anyone but themselves (though there'll probably be property damage to...

Hmmm. I usually get the left cross or right hook treatment on Cherrywood Lane, not Ivy Lane. It's usually the drivers who pull out 2/3rds into the bike lane before looking to see if anyone is coming...

I have this experience a lot with Metrobuses that try to pass on my left and then swerve across the bike lane to make their stop. In addition SOV drivers, our public transit operators need better...

@Greenbelt: I know at least one in the Greenbelt planning department who's hoping to work on that sooner than 39 years from now. :o)

@JohnB -- Greenbelt hasn't heard of green lane markings or stripes -- sort of ironic, don't you think? Despite the fact that the East Coast Greenway runs through the whole town, and, you know...

It might be appropriate to call the police and press assault charges. It might be appropriate, but it will be entirely ineffectual. When a Lincoln SUV passed me in the same lane and I called the police...

This is nearly the same type of accident that killed Alice Swanson. 1. Glad you're ok, Matt.2. Matt's experience saved him from serious injury. He knows to look for the very common right hook...

Matt, what's with people trying to kill us lately? I say this mostly in jest, but racking it up as another first-hand example of how much we need more and better education for motorists, cyclists, and...

Pretty endemic of the "me first" attitude all across modes. An attitude which seems to be amplified in Maryland in general and PG County in particular.

What I always find ironic is if some idiot swerves into the bike lane in front of me, I check over my shoulder before going around them because I worry for my safety. But rarely do drivers check before...

I've had a right hook or two like that. Motorist turns into me as he's immediately adjacent, hits me, and then says I'm at fault because I'm supposed to get out of his way.

I would start with the City of Greenbelt: 1. The new AASHTO standards would have the bike lane line dashed starting 50 to 200 feet before the turn. This road is managed by Greenbelt, right? The city...

I'll also add that the MVA driver manual does tell drivers the appropriate way to make a right turn. So once all the drivers who got a drivers license before 2011 stop driving, problem solved.
